Job description
Introduction
Our client is currently seeking a Health & Safety Advisor to join their team in a contract role. As a Health & Safety Advisor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of employees, contractors, and the general public in the highways sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain health and safety practices in accordance with industry standards and legislation.
- Carry out risk assessments, inspections, and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend appropriate control measures.
- Develop and deliver health and safety training programs for employees and contractors.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Monitor and assess compliance with health and safety policies and procedures.
- Advise on the implementation of safe working practices, including the use of personal protective equipment.
- Provide guidance and support to colleagues on health and safety matters.
- Keep up to date with relevant health and safety legislation and best practice.
Job Requirements
- Significant experience in health and safety, ideally within the highways or transportation sector.
- Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
- Relevant health and safety qualifications, such as NEBOSH or IOSH.
- Proficiency in conducting risk assessments and investigations.
- A proactive and solution-focused approach to health and safety.
- The ability to build and maintain positive working relationships.
