Introduction


Our client is currently seeking a Health & Safety Advisor to join their team in a contract role. As a Health & Safety Advisor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of employees, contractors, and the general public in the highways sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain health and safety practices in accordance with industry standards and legislation.
  • Carry out risk assessments, inspections, and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend appropriate control measures.
  • Develop and deliver health and safety training programs for employees and contractors.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Monitor and assess compliance with health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Advise on the implementation of safe working practices, including the use of personal protective equipment.
  • Provide guidance and support to colleagues on health and safety matters.
  • Keep up to date with relevant health and safety legislation and best practice.

Job Requirements

  • Significant experience in health and safety, ideally within the highways or transportation sector.
  • Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
  • Relevant health and safety qualifications, such as NEBOSH or IOSH.
  • Proficiency in conducting risk assessments and investigations.
  • A proactive and solution-focused approach to health and safety.
  • The ability to build and maintain positive working relationships.
