Overview

Our client in the defence sector is looking for a Systems Engineering professional specialising in Requirements & Acceptance to support delivery within the Dreadnought Active Vehicle Control (AVC) Functional Software Team.

You'll be part of a multi-disciplinary engineering environment adopting a Model Based Design approach-developing and validating behavioural/dynamic models used to derive requirements, support verification & validation activities, and gain stakeholder acceptance of the design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and capture requirements for models used to support the design and assurance work
  • Develop and maintain behavioural/dynamic simulation models using Matlab/Simulink
  • Verify models meet user needs and maintain alignment with the system being modelled
  • Integrate models into a wider whole-boat / vehicle control model framework
  • Support deployment of models into real-time environments (e.g., rigs)
  • Support model validation to ensure models are representative of real components/systems
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders across engineering teams, supporting technical reviews and acceptance

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Strong Matlab / Simulink modelling experience (essential)
  • Experience of model-based design, ideally modelling dynamic systems
  • Systems engineering experience across requirements, verification/validation and acceptance
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with multiple stakeholders
  • Comfort working in a complex, safety-/mission-critical engineering environment

Desirable

  • Domain knowledge of submarine control, hydraulic or mechanical systems (or equivalent experience from aerospace/automotive)
  • Understanding of standards such as ARP4754 and/or DO-178
  • Experience with CI / version control practices (branching/merging strategies)
  • Familiarity with Atlassian toolset (Jira, Git, Bitbucket)

Apply

If you're a Systems/Model Based Design engineer with strong Simulink skills and you're open to a hybrid contract role on a major UK defence programme, please apply with your CV and availability.
